from the LP Desire(1981) images from the short movie "Vincent"by Tim Burton written by Brown.Principle,Reininger,Tong He went through life Sometimes crying Never trying Sometimes crying The books that he read and the TV said Don't waste your time He began to think his future Lay in the hands of fate He'd move this way He'd move that way Or just hesitate It comes out the same He wondered what was to blame He travels light No excess baggage His religion saved him But there was a price to pay His friend could see it In the way he stared that day Life on over ride Life on over ride

another fine tuxedomoon cover

This is strictly a personal artistic impression of concepts involved in the song "What Use". The song was included in the album enitled "Half Mute" by the band Tuxedomoon. The record was produced in San Francisco in 1979 and released by the Cryptic Corporation on the Ralph Records label in 1980. The group at the time consisted of; Steven Brown, Blaine Reininger and Peter Principle. This video is not intended for commercial use of any kind. Special thanks to my friend Nic who provided some of the images.

The band was formed in San Francisco in 1977 by students of electronic music Blaine L. Reininger and Steven Brown (and later joined by Peter Principle and Winston Tong). The very first Tuxedomoon full-length album came of in 1980 on The Residents' label Ralph Records. It included the single, What Use? It remains a classic to this day, with its drum machines, organ, sax, bass and strong atmospheres. It was described as impresionist and futuristic chamber music. The San Francisco experimental post punk/new wave band continues to record and perform. Their latest release was in 2007. Blaine Reininger, Peter Principle and Steven Brown have been constants. http://www.discogs.com/Tuxedomoon-Half-Mute/master/20714

One of my favourite Tuxedomoon tracks. I strung together a few bits of video to go along with this track - I hope it's watchable (-:
